I think Chad Johnson would be the funniest player.

Chad Johnson's Hall of Fame Jacket is the dumbest not the best. The first to come to mind of the best of the decade's is the Joe Horn Cell Phone...

Commercial wise, the Peyton Manning Direct TV with the mustache or Brian Urlacher's Old Spice commercial...

I wasn't responding to you...I was referring to the story. I'll give Chad one of the funniest players...but I think I'd still go with Portis.

Best first down celebration?! My god what has the league come to?

That's not the league, it's ESPN.

I understand that ESPN is giving the award, but I still think that it is a very sad reflection on the league that there are enough players trying to make up new celebrations for first downs (obviously trying to get some highlight time on SportsCenter). I hold Cris Carter mostly responsible.

I hear ya. Former Redskin WR Michael Westbrook used to do that crap all the time. Drove my Pops nuts (he is a skins fan).

That's one of the things I love about Fitz & Boldin. Only during the playoff run did Fitzgerald's emotions come out a little more, but NEVER any contrived celebrations. Usually just hand the ball to the ref, maybe hug or high-five nearby teammates on the way back to the huddle or the bench. Neither guy has EVER done something orchestrated, or tried to clear players out so the camera can get a clear shot. Only genuine celebration for a legitimate on the field achievement.

It's been a while, but I remember a time when "showboating" would either get you benched, or an a opposing defender would clean your clock for showing up the opposition.

I like the showboating and stuff now a days it just how the nfl is now.

True, but sometimes I think it serves more to piss off the opposition than to pump up your own team.

Depends like chad johnson for example just loves attention good or bad.

Which Gramitica(sp) kicker that got hurt jumping up and down after and extra point that is the best celebration. I still laugh about that at times.

It was Bill Gramatica and he tore his ACL after a FG that meant nothing...lol.
