The site might be running slow because I have been rebuilding the search index for the last couple of hours.
Uh...I'll see you guys in september...the arcade kept me coming back during the offseason...i'd check into threads while trying to take down the mahjong title or billiards... if you want to axe a great part of your site thats your issue...but worrying about this being a football forum during the offseason and getting rid of something that attracts people here when the news is slow might not be the brightest idea..
^^i kinda agree with this i know mike didnt take this as well as hes pretneding, i know him better than that....he put alot of hours into getting 104 high scores lol im pissed cause i dedicated my life to the helicopter game and finally got it with a stranglehold lol
I'm gonna miss the rep system, but I understand the reasoning for taking it away. And if the arcade and casino were causing problems for the site, I see why those features had to go, too. As a result, the place does seem to be running a little faster today.
If it has to go it has to go... The vCash, the awards, the gifts...I enjoy it all, but if ultimately it had to go, then it has to go, but I think it would take a little bit out of GIF...sometimes the little things are what make the site different. With the latest game update, I started frequenting the arcade a little more. But before that update, I rarely visited.
I dont see a problem with it the rep system was kind of pointless. I havent used the arcade and casino in a while. Vcash definitly should stay because its used for betting which makes it fun and there is still gifts and stuff. There is still plenty to do i come for the epic conversations in the post tramp thread and there is still news and sports going on to talk about.
Personally I will fight for the gifts considering it was my baby in the first place because I know that people including myself enjoy giving and receiving them. PE08, you are liked by many here and although you don't talk much football the other sports area is there for you and the off topic area is usually one of the larger forums at most boards, I hope you have no plans on leaving us because we would have to hunt you down and drag you back kicking and screaming. People should come to a site because of the main draw of the site which is what caught your attention in the first place(NFL Football)and if it was the arcade that you can get anywhere then maybe you need to get a membership on a gaming site not a football site. Personally I don't know of maybe 2 people that came here because of our arcade and if all they do is play then they are not a participating member of GIF. The news is not slow there are over 100 stories posted daily during the so called off season, our RSS feed is still viewed by thousands and our off topic areas should be enough to keep most non football talking members entertained for hours on end but in the end if the casino and arcade are really the only draw that you have to bring you here in the off season well then see ya in September...
I liked the rep system. Not so much the rep whoring. It's cool when people use it appropriately. The arcade was a good time waster, but there are plenty of other time wasters on the internet. Not that big a deal. Gifts: the new rep.
So i waste a good couple of days trying to beat Mike at Biog Money and when i finally geta score he doesnt beat straight away the Arcade is taken from me..i could cry
Only person probably really pissed about the arcade is mike. I would be if i waste all that time getting over a 100 scores.
I can think of one person... I am sure we won't be seeing her anymore. I agree with everything you said though, what ever it takes to make the site run more smoothly. Would rep ya if I could, guess I will get you a gift instead! :icon_cheesygrin:
