Guys? What happened to the New Posts link in the top left corner of the page? That's the one I use to read all the new posts instead of jumping from forum to forum... Just askin'...
i found the link on the right, i wonder if the # of new post since you last logged on is coming back though?
Yeah, I always use the one in the top left. I'll use the one double H pointed out now. Thanks!! **********Automerged Doublepost********** My thread count is gone too
I always, and I mean always used that. First thing I did when I logged on I clicked on that little link above my username. Don't tell me you guys took it away because it shows the lack of activity or some crap like that.
The link is still there where I said, but they may take it down to see if it's effecting site performance.
So do I, first thing I do after logging in... I guess I'll have to get used to the other one, though. :dontknow:
I removed the link because it was causing a query to the database that was unnecessary since we already have the [ New Posts ] link under the search field. It was nice to see the number of posts since my last visit but again that was removed due to the large query it hit the database up for. Also, I removed the links showing what group is moderating what forum on the site's forum index since that also was adding queries each time it needed to load for each forum. Queries to the database slow down the site and non-critical queries will be stripped as needed. As the site grows the queries on the server grow and some of those small cute features that don't seem like a big deal start to pile up when it comes to queries on the database.
I have always just used the active threads drop down and picked the one that best suits since I have last been on.
I'm kind of getting used to using the other one. I'll miss the count but I understand the load it puts on the server.
Glad to see the new posts link in the top left corner back, but when I click on it I get a 404 NOT FOUND error. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Uh...scratch that. It works now. Well, that was weird.
