Sources in Denver say Broncos first-round pick Robert Ayers transition to the NFL has been smooth. We hear Ayers, the 18th overall pick in the draft, picked things up quickly during offseason activities and received a good deal of reps with the first-team defense. Its certain hell start at one of the front-seven spots on defense from Day One, but exactly where is something the Broncos still have to figure out.

With how bad that D was last season if there first round pick couldn't get a starting spot that would have been a terrible pick.

No real surprise here, Denver needs all the help they can get on defense, and Ayers should be a solid contributor day 1.

He is too small to be an end in the 34 and I don't think he is fast enough or can cover as an olb.

make him lose 20 pounds and play him next to DJ Williams at ILB. thats all they can really do apart from trade him for a player that fits the scheme.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Denver move him around a bit, and try to get the best matchups for him to get into the backfield.

The problem is that he had trouble getting into the backfield in college, if he struggled there how can he have any form of success?

He led the team his senior year in TFL, I think by moving him around playing matchups he will be able to get into the backfield, not necessarily to sack the QB, but enough to disrupt the running and screen pass game that will be used by AFC West teams...am I saying that I know this kids going to be a stud...no, but I think he will be able to start and contribute in Denver day 1. He played well against Andre Smith.

Im saying Denver will be horrific this year no matter what. One guy isnt going to fix that D, and their offense has been reduced greatly, and then theres the coach.......bwahahahahahahaha.

Now he will have a guy plus a spy on him since there is no one else. I think Ayers could have been a good prospect in a 43 scheme, but he simply doesn't fit in a 34. Again he is too small to be an end and he has no real pass rushing skills, evident by his 3 sacks as a senior, or the ability to cover as an OLB.

This year, next year, and most likely the year after that, unless McDaniels is gone, cause no one is going to want to play for him after his escipades.
