NFL Could Fine Chad Ochocinco For In-Game Tweets?

Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco said last week in an interview with Houston radio station KGOW that he would use the social media site Twitter.com during games to connect with fans. Any in-game Tweets from Ocho Cinco might draw disciplinary action. NFL rules prohibit the use of mobile phones or other hand-held devices in the bench area during games. If you break a rule, you can get fined, league spokesman Greg Aiello said in a telephone interview. There's nothing that addresses that use of that type of communication before and after the game it's similar to other interaction with the media. We would just look at it and clarify it with the clubs before the start of the season.

Stupid butt fukin crap. Is this a sign of the times? Cause this wouldn't fly in the 80's or 70's. It wouldn't fly with Tom Landy as the head coach, but then again they didn't have the internet back then. This is more like another example of his stupidity.

I don't see what the difference of him twitting and him talking to sideline reporters are. I think the NFL will find a way to control it and allow everyone to do it.

    you two are joking right?

nothing wrong with what he says he's gonna do

it won't interfere with the game at all.

it's just like running by a few fans as he goes into the locker room and saying hi

are they going to fine him for doing that as well?

You don't understand what is happening at all. There already was a rule against phones and electronic devices on NFL benches. It's nothing like running past fans and saying "Hi" when going to the locker room because you are away from the bench area and you have to go that direction anyway.

He can tweet before the game, at half-time, and after the game from the locker room. He can't do it during the game because it would break a rule.

And besides, if he were to do it as the game was being played, that would show his mind is elsewhere. Who would want one of their players or teammates doing that?
