Donte' Stallworth's attorney, Christopher Lyons, says the Browns wide receiver was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early Friday after serving 24 days for DUI manslaughter. The 28-year-old Stallworth, who has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL, served 24 days of the 30-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter. ...now begin's the 2 years of house arrest...Although he's noy in a jail cell being confined to your home will drive you crazy as well...I'm not sure if Stallworth will be allowed to hold a regular job or not...I'm assuming so since he could have played football, which will make it a whole lot more bearable.
even though the guy walked right in front of his car, and there is nothing any driver could have done?...I understand people thinking the sentence was light, but life is ridiculous...15 yrs is the max. sentence. I don't think he should have gotten that either considering the circumstances
I still think that's a week sentence. In WI, for homicide while OWI, up to 25 years, plus $100,000 fine for 1st offense, 40 plus year for 2nd offense. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/docs/owi-penchrt.pdf I am not a member of MADD or anything, but people need to use their heads when drinking. DON'T DRIVE, period. I just don't fell that 30 days in jail is enough, whether or not he has two years house arrest.
I can understand that, I just thought when you said he should have gotten life it was excessive. Keep in mind the prosecutor has to prove that the alcohol definately played a role in the manslaughter, and from what I've heard about the video of this, there was no way they could have. The guy ran right in front of the car. But I definately can understand your feeling that the sentence was light.
