Ravens wide receiver Drew Bennett announced his retirement Sunday night, just two days after signing with Baltimore in an effort to rekindle his NFL career. Bennett agreed to a one-year deal after a tryout Friday. But he aggravated an old knee injury during the workout, and after returning home to Nashville, Tenn., the 30-year-old receiver decided to quit. “A previous knee injury flared up, making me realize that I am unable to play another NFL season,†Bennett said in statement distributed by his agent, Steve Caric. “Therefore, I have decided to retire from the National Football League.†Source: Yahoo!Sports
I been screaming Matt Jones since the draft! I don't get it. So then they sign this dude I never heard of so I google him and all I see are pages about him get'n locked up for showing his junk in public. So much for the charachter angle. I wonder Bennett will be in the ring of honor???
The fellas at the Baltimore Sun seem to think we'll wait to see if Mason comes back and if not maybe make a play on a bigger name - I see another plaintiff filed against Harrison in the shooting case and the Prosecution says that 5/6 shells found at the scene were from a pistol Harrison owns so that might take him off the short list. It would be really nice if they would just do this right this year instead of just trying to patch it up for another season and freaking Flacco and Harbaugh over.
Was the pot done brewing so he could have a cup of coffee, or did the ink dry first? WTF? Had a work-out and his knee flared up. Was looking forward to seeing him. I'll probably hit training camp with pictures next week.
Drew woudl't have helped in the slightest. His knees were done when he joined us (No one noticed because he was slow anyway) and his so called safe hands were a liability in the endzone.
New Ravens marketing pitch... Baltimore: Where receivers go to retire. Sign Matt Jones or Harrison. There's not much out there outside of Plax or a Marshall trade.
I have a question. If the Rams would of kept him would they of saved money towards the cap since they released him then he retired? If I remember correctly we didnt save that much by releasing him anyways, but every penny helps in these economic times hehe
