Manhattan's district attorney says he wants former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress to serve time in prison, the New York Post reported. Robert Morgenthau told the newspaper that Burress, who shot himself with an unlicensed gun in November, was willing to agree to spend a year in jail, but prosecutors insisted on two. "We've always taken the position that he's going to have to go to jail, whether by trial or by plea," Morgenthau told the Post for a story in Monday's edition. A spokeswoman for Morgenthau, Alica Maxey Greene, declined to comment on the Post story or to confirm that the district attorney made the comments.

No, really? Plax, the sooner you get this over with, the better.

You wonder why you haven't been signed by a team yet, this is why.

Plax is a pretty dumb guy, he'll end up gettting a year and a half or so for not registering his gun...dumbass

I just find it funny how Plax is trying to avoid jail time. There is no way around that when it comes to illegally carrying a gun.

If he agreed to the first plea deal offer, IIRC, he'd be out by now :icon_rolleyes:

Burres is in denial, and scared crapless of going to jail. Like Andy said, if he had listened to his lawyers, he'd be out by now and probably signed already. There's no way he can avoid jail time.

Burress should be scared crapless about going to jail. I hope he's using this as a lesson to pay for a bodyguard next time.

Just posted this in another thread then saw the sticky thread so going to repost it

The DA said Burress will serve jail time either by plea or by trial. Since when does a DA decide if a defendant goes to jail if he goes to trial. He may say that any plea will lead to jail time, but its a juries job to decide that if this goes to trial. This DA has a hot head and this may come back to haunt him after Burress testifies in front of the grand jury
