The news that Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce might be facing criminal charges in connection with his role in the Plaxico Burress shooting caught the attention of the league office, which is currently monitoring the situation, according to a league spokesman. It is possible that Pierce's role - - allegedly removing the gun from the crime scene in Manhattan and transporting it to New Jersey - - could be viewed as a violation of the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy and if it is, the Giants' middle linebacker could face a suspension or a fine. Asked if the league is investigating Pierce for a possible violation, league spokesman Greg Aiello said "We will follow developments in the case. We have no other comment at this time."
