The consensus among agents and league officials is that the Crabtree negotiations are making both sides nervous. It has been reported that he wants to be paid like a top-five pick because he might have been No. 1 had he not decided to have corrective surgery on his foot two months before the draft. Besides the Crabtree situation, Oakland's contract with No. 7 pick Darrius Heyward-Bey has created problems because his deal is an increase of more than 20% over what the No. 7 pick got last year. Since when do players get paid for the draft slot they "might have been" drafted in??? That's freaking absurd. You got picked at 10, not the top 5. Therefore you get paid like a 10, not a top 5. I hope he turns out to be the next JJ Stokes.
you where not gonna be the top pick it was clear since day one that Detriot was taking a QB Crabtree is a freaking idiot
I do not agree with what he is saying but I understand it. He is saying the in order to help whatever team drafted him he had his knee repaired before the draft to make certain he would be able to play during camp. I hope he does not win but I give it up to his agent for coming up with a new angle on this.
First of all his knee wasn't hurt...second of all if he put off the surgery he could have either further injured himself, or not run well at the combine and dropped his stock...this guy wants top 5 moey at pick 10, ridiculous, he won't sit out the regular season and is only hurting himself right now by missing valuable practice time.
From what the article says Crabtree has only himself to blame for having the surgery then, by his admission if he hadn't had the surgery he would have gone number 1, I don't think so but that's his thinking. He had foot problems everyone knew it but he thinks someone would pick him up as a number 1? The NFL isn't the Magic Kingdom Michael. The deal with DHB, if a team wants to overpay a number 7 pick it's their perogative and it really shouldn't have any bearing on anyone else.
