The New Orleans Saints have released veteran CB Jason David, the team announced Monday. David had two years left on his restructured contract, and his release will save the team $2.4 million, but a league source said the team will take on roughly $650,000 in dead space with the move. David signed a big free agent deal in 2006, but he struggled mightily after moving from the Colts' Cover-2 scheme to the New Orleans man coverage scheme.
