San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who has thrown for more than 10,000 yards over the past three seasons, has agreed to a new contract extension with the club. The extension is for six years and is worth $92 million, a source told ESPN.com. About $38-39 million is guaranteed. Source: ESPN
Ill make another bet with you if you want that eli sucks this year to prove it. Why would i care how he looks i just like making fun of him.
well rivers is better than eli....but i would say he deserves "alot" more than eli....porpotionally he got more than eli for being better than eli but they are in the same relative class imo and baskett im not saying that eli wont suck this year, he has a serious downgrade in weapons but rivers wouldnt be great there either. having gates to throw too and lt to hand off and throw too with solid receivers like chambers and jackson and a good defense has built a decent team for rivers to succeed in. same thing with eli though....good defense, run game and targets....he was pretty good, this year maybe not so much **********Automerged Doublepost********** i hate eli btw and think hes vastly overpaid but i think rivers is an overrated little pr**k too...he is better than eli but considering the going rate for "franchise QBs" he got the money he deserved and i actually did think well they were both drafted in 04 when i wrote that lol **********Automerged Doublepost********** also their stats over the last few years are extremely comparable....even though since LT was hurt this year rivers threw alot more and had his biggest season, meanwhile the giants led the league in rushing....
K Train I disagree man, last year was the first year Eli had a QB rating even in the 80's, Rivers has been there every year he's been a starter including 1 year in the 90's and last year at 105 and change. There yardage was comparable the first 2 years but Rivers threw foe over 4,000 last year to Eli's 3200 last 3 yr Int's ELI 10, 20, 18 Rivers 11, 15, 9 I think River's is a better QB, but Eli has that superbowl win that Rivers is missing.
Only advantage Eli has is the SB ring. Eli isn't even a top 10 QB (top 15), while you could argue Rivers is top 5-7. If Rivers has another great year he'll easily be top 5. While Eli without Plax will probably struggle, although he'll have a great running game to lean on so they may use it more to help him out.
Rivers is great and not trying to take anything away from him but Eli plays in a stadium that is NOT QB friendly, not to mention Rivers gets to beat up on the Raiders, Chiefs, and Broncos twice a year while Eli has the NFC east.
