WR Kevin Ogletree isn't a lock to make the Cowboys' final roster. The fifth receiver spot is tenuous by nature. But the rookie from Virginia has inserted himself into the conversation with a solid training camp. "I take it day by day," Ogletree said. "I'm not looking through lockers or over my shoulder. I'm just coming out, trying to get better every day, doing what I can." Source: Dallas News
I think at worst he has made the PS. If he can show something as a returner then he should win the 5th WR spot. What a WR we would have a 1st round pick a 7th round pick and 3 UDFA. We have 3 1st round picks on out LB core.
I would say Williams, Crayton, Hurd, Austin and Ogletree. I think Johnson or Jefferson or both will be on the PS. Holly, "4th and Long", is a dark horse. I could see Dallas keeping him around just because. It would also give them something to work with if they decide to do the show next year.
I dug up these Combine numbers of his... Combine Invite: Yes Height: 6004 Weight: 196 40 Yrd Dash: 4.36 20 Yrd Dash: 2.51 10 Yrd Dash: 1.50 Vertical Jump: 36 Broad Jump: 10'02" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.08 3-Cone Drill: 6.67 :dirty05::bye:
I'm wishing the best for ol Ogletree. I do still think it would have helped him a lot more if he had stayed another year in UVA.
Of all the rookies that the Cowboys have, Ogletree has impressed me the most. IMO, he makes the roster, and Stanback doesn't. He just can't stay healthy.
I've supported Stanback through all his injuries and crap but If it comes down to pick between him or Ogletree to make the team I would definitely go with Kev.
If the Cowboys cut Stanback, watch what happens. Somebody will pick him up, his health problems will magically disappear, and he will turn into another Randel El or Kordell Stewart. Just watch.
Oh, he'll turn into an overrated guy who plays a lot of positions, but won't be good in any of them. Sounds good to me.
