Chiefs Coach Todd Haley said Wednesday that the Chiefs might not be finished adding wide receivers, but that he's growing more comfortable with the ones he has. Kansas City signed two veteran receivers, Amani Toomer and Ashley Lelie, during training camp and during a particular time of discomfort for Haley, when he demoted Dwayne Bowe because of poor focus and effort. "They're getting better," Haley said. "I said early on I was pretty frustrated with that position, but I think there is definite progress made across the board. Hopefully, we take it to the game and make plays in the game. But I would say they're making strides." But Haley said after Wednesday's morning session that the receivers had improved, even if the Chiefs will continue to scour the free-agent wire as teams begin to part ways with players as roster cuts approach. Sounds like D. Bowe isn't the answer.... Just another great college WR that can't carry over to the NFL???
Bowe is an answer...he's not "the" answer. The challenge is we have no one else to take the pressure and double teams off Bowe. Bowe is not a speed guy, he's a big receiver that can make plays. Losing Gonzalez and lacking a deep threat means Bowe will get all the attention. We need someone else to step up and apparently Haley still hasn't found that guy in Engram, Toomer, Lelie, or Bradley.
Without Gonz there, there is no one else to help pull coverage away from Bowe. The eagles and Giants might have a WR they would be willing to trade, but even then you are not looking at getting a great player.
Maybe you guys should of taken DHB or Maclin or that diva Crabtree hed be in camp for you guys already.
We could have, but unfortunately we have more than just a WR need. Jackson looks to be a solid pick, he's already on the first team.
Yeah, Bowe is fine at what he does, he's just not the fastest guy ever. We need someone to stretch the field.
Hines Ward is trying to get him to Pittsburgh. I imagine that if he tried out for an NFL team he would want it to be an established winner.
