Jets rookie running back Shonn Greene has cartilage damage in his ribs and coach Rex Ryan said he's going to shut down the Sicklerville native for the rest of the preseason. Greene, a third-round pick out of Iowa, said he was injured on his first carry against the Ravens when he fell on the ball and then several defenders fell on him. He said he didn't feel the injury right away but after the game he had trouble breathing. "We're being conservative," said Ryan. "I don't think he'll play in the preseason."

    Any rib injury is painful.

Unless you don't have to breath.

Yes HH, but intercostal cartilage pain can feel much worse than a fractured rib... unless you have flail chest and are about to die.

    Worse than a broken rib?

Wow, that's some painful crap that doesn't go away for a long time.

It depends on the location and severity as far as the rib fracture/fractures go. Any type of intercostal cartilage injury feels really painful.

    I have to stop smoking.

Worse than bone grinding against bone?

    Against your breathing machine?
