Quarterback Brett Favre created perhaps a bigger buzz with a block than he did directing the Vikings offense in a 17-10 victory over the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium on Monday night. Favre's illegal block to safety Eugene Wilson's knees drew a 15-yard penalty and was a hot topic inside the locker room afterward. "I liked it," Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said. "Hey, it's man eat man out here. You better keep your eyes on a swivel. He saw Brett out there and said, 'Ah, Brett ain't going to do anything.'" Afterward, Favre said he didn't intend to injure Wilson but felt he had little choice but to protect Harvin. "Percy was running my way," Favre said. "Believe me, I hope [Wilson] is OK. I hope it didn't look as bad on film as it may have seemed but my intentions, believe me, were not to hurt anyone, including myself. ... But I think had I not blocked anyone and just got out of the way and Percy gets hit and gets hurt, I think that looks worse. But once again I hope he's OK. Believe me, my intentions were not to be cheap. "... I'll be 40 years old in October and was weeding 13 days ago. I wasn't thinking about throwing blocks." "Actually he kind of scared me because I kind of forgot he was out there," Harvin said. "After I turned the corner I saw him flash across my face. It was good to see him still get down a little. I appreciated the block." Source: Star-Tribune News

I feel bad saying this, and I know it's wrong. But that block actually was the first thing he's done that I've respected since he left the Packers.
There's nothing respectful about intentionally throwing that kind of block, Favre knew what he was doing I mean if you watch the video you can see he meant to go low. So much for his fractured ribs.
thats just football, ya it was low but come on atleast he didn't just stand their and let the play die. he got a flag blah its over. atleast someone is playing football instead of tity bumping around
how is it "just football" if it was a flagged play ? that makes zero, no, less than zero sense. it was low and at the knees. happyy play but it should be expected from the patti lebelle of the nfl.
Fartve should have just retired 2 years ago and went back to Mississippi where he belongs. Now he's tarnishing his "career" but the media will still view the interception king and just that a "king" :icon_sad:
Could have been Favre....... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO7JIcE-RAk]YouTube - Trent Green Knocked Out[/ame]
That wasn't an intentional play, QB's don't know how to block. That being said it's still not ok and should be a fine, Wilson could have been seriously hurt. Childress is a dope for running that play to Favres side in a preseason game. Didiculous with a freshly repaired shoulder on a 40 year old. I hope everything's good with Wilson.
That looked pretty intentional to me - he didn't trip before he went broadside into Wilson's knees. And with all Goodell's dogma about setting examples and so on, when the most publicized player in the game throws a dirty hit I think there should be a fine - like Tirico says 'Brett Favre or not that isn't cool'
sorry harvs, that was intentional, he had NO plans on going high with the block. if the tables were turned godell wouldve already suspended the defensice player for 8 games.
Why the hell do you feel bad about saying it??? **********Automerged Doublepost********** There is far too much bullcrap in the rulebook protecting the precious quarterback and yet one of them goes and does this crap? And to top it off, it's Brett Favre. Lovely. Someone needs to completely lay this dude out. Soon. It would make my day.
I don't think that block was so much intentional as it was a classic case of a QB not knowing how to throw a block. He looked ridiculous...lol.
WTF!! It was a cheap shot!! What comes around goes around... Wilson won't forget about it.. Someone will return the favor...
