The Bears are set to go into the season with Caleb Hanie as the No. 2 quarterback behind Jay Cutler even though he doesn't have a snap of experience in the regular season. Hanie completed 31 of 50 passes in preseason for 374 yards and two touchdowns and had an 89.9 passer rating, just better than the 82.1 he posted last year, when he convinced the Bears to keep him on the 53-man roster and not try to slide him to the practice squad. ''Caleb, every time he's played, has played well for us,'' Smith said. ''I think he has full command of our offense. He's a mobile guy also. He can make plays, a tough guy. It's no secret that we like him. I think he will be a good player in the league.''

Hanie looks legit. I think he'll be fine

Don't get me wrong, I like Hanie's play.

Handicapping Cutler with this WR corp is one thing but if Hanie has to step in, God forbid, handicapping him with them has doom written all over it. :icon_eek:
