Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports when asked specifically whether Shawne Merriman would be here through the 2009 season, Chargers GM A.J. Smith neither answered the question nor denied the possibility Merriman wouldn't. "I've already addressed the Shawne Merriman situation," Smith said. "I'm sure when the legal process runs its course, Shawne will update you. As far as his future with the Chargers, which appears to be an ongoing debate, we will let you know right away if his status should change." Source: San Diego Union-Tribune
If he's gonna be choking high-profile hoes and be under continued suspicion of steroid use his performance had better step up or his future in SD could be tenuous at best, not to mention the money he stands to lose on the whole.
Acee has been claiming Merriman will be gone after this season for a year now with his "inside sources". I'll believe him when he finally gets something right, he's no Schefter that's for damn sure.
