Al Davis has kept track of Richard Seymour for a long time, and doesn't believe he overpaid with his first-round draft pick in 2011 to land the defensive lineman in a trade last Sunday. "Sometimes you've got to overpay to get what you want,'' Davis told reporters after Seymour's introductory press conference tonight. "But I didn't overpay. I don't think that's overpaying at all. Sometimes you have to, you don't always win the battle, the idea is to get the player." According to Jerry McDonald's blog for the Contra Costa Times, Davis dealt directly with New England coach Bill Belichick on the trade. It took four or five days of dealing with Belichick to make the deal happen. "I've always had my eye on Seymour because it's tough to play the right end in a three-man line,'' Davis said. "We've had one great player do that, Lyle Alzado. He's someone that we've been watching for years and I never thought we'd get a shot at him." Source: National Football Post
they wont intervene Davis has been a fixture in Oakland, and as bad as he is he deserves to decide when to relinquish control...I think he's long overdue, but he has paid his dues...but you're right the fans deserve better
Burgess & 2011 1st for Seymour, 2010 2nd & 4th. Both players in the last year of their contract. Seems a fair trade to me so if we overpaid for Seymour then New England overpaid for Burgess.
the big difference is new england has extra draft picks to play with, because they always think ahead and have more picks than just your typical 7. They have more 2nds next year than their own
