Adrian Wilson's hard hit near the head of 49ers tight end Vernon Davis on Sunday is likely to be met with an automatic one-game suspension. The NFL warned the Cardinals safety last season that because of previous personal fouls and fines, that his next infraction would cost him $50,000 and a game. "I'm a ballplayer, man," Wilson said Monday. "The rules are what they are, but at the end of a day I'm a football player and I'm going to do what's best to try and disengage the ball. I won't change nothing that I'm doing." Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he is all for player safety and the protection rules that have been set in place by the league, but he isn't sure Wilson's hit warrants a suspension. "Looking at that play, Adrian tried to hit him with his shoulder," he said. "He tried to hit him in the chest. The player caught the ball, jumped for it and was coming down, and it's unfortunate. Those are very tough things. But in watching the tape, Adrian was trying to lead with his shoulder instead of leading with his head and he was trying to do the right thing. Hopefully, it won't be an issue." Source: Arizona Republic
