If Jets coach Rex Ryan's comment in June about not coming here to kiss Patriots coach Bill Belichick's rings isn't enough bulletin board material for Sunday's showdown at the Meadowlands, how about this one from Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kris Jenkins: ''We're going to be playing this game like it's the Super Bowl,'' said Jenkins Monday as the Jets quickly put their 24-7 season-opening dismantling of the Houston Texans behind them. I hope they get paddled because they are far too smug right now for a team that hasn't done crap except tune-up an underachieving AFCS cellar dweller.
yes, this makes a lot of sense. the 2nd game of the regular season should be of as much importance to the jets as a super bowl. this isn't a good sign in my opinion. teams that over-stress the importance of games in September usually flame out.
well the Jets haven't beaten them at home since the beginning of the George Bush administration (2000), plus, it's the Patriots. Jets need to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with in the NFL, but going through the final 5 games of 2008, I know about flame outs, hopefully it doesn't happen in 09.
The Patriots definately looked rusty, but hopefully it was a wake up call...I blame the throwbacks from when the Pats sucked butt era...throw those heckers away!!
Hey guys....wow, cant believe it's been a year since I last posted.... As far as this Jets game, we are In for a world of hurt unless Brady can get past his Injury...you can tell how it messed with his head. I think thats why he avoided the post game chat with Suzy, he knew he was the reason for the sloppy win. To be honest, Brady hasn't been the same since the Super Bowl loss......which is sad.
that's what he meant. he hasn't been winning NEARLY as many games since the SB loss ..................... he should have played through the pain.
here's what i said about the Jets over-stressing the Pats game in week 2. Since their 'big' win in week 2, the Jets have now played 3 lackluster games in some form or fashion. In many ways, they were outplayed by a bad Titans team. Sanchez puked all over himself in New Orleans and now their defense failed to show up in Miami last night. Their approach to that Pats game was a lose-lose for them. If they had lost, it would have killed their momentum. When they won, it was anti-climactic. They all celebrated as if they had won the SB but then there were still 14 more games to play. The last 3 weeks, there has been a lot less intensity from this group because they peaked too early and i put all of the blame on the head coach for over-stressing a week 2 game. I think Rex has probably learned a very valuable lesson as a head coach. That's the one bright spot in all of this.
