The eagles ran 12 wildcat plays vs the saints and andy said that so far they average more then 5 yards a play for the wildcat. He said that its most likley going to continue because its been effective. Also we have mike vick coming back this week and if he is in top shape which we dont know there are alot of possibilitys. One of the plays i thought was great was where we only had 3 lineman in thought that was very creative. Whats your take on the way the eagles have used the wildcat so far and how we will use it this season?

The Dolphins are using it very effectively right now.

Why wouldn't teams use it if they've got the personnel?

Now you have Vick, you have to use the Wildcat (even if everyone knows how to defend it now). What else would you bring him in for, anyway?

The Colts didn't really defend it well earlier.

Granted they won, but Ronnie and Ricky ran all over them...

I haven't seen the game yet. But even by the end of last season, this thing had become outmoded.

When defenses put more time into stopping it, they'll stop it. Teams have been running the "wildcat" forever, it's just been brought to the forefront with the success the Dolphins had with it last year. It's really nothing new other than repeatedly running out of the formations instead of using "trickery" here and there.

But yeah baskett...if the Eagles are productive and defenses are choosing not to spend time on defending it, the Eagles should continue running it. Technically, they'll have a wildcat package in at all times with McNabb or Kolb or Vick in the game as long as Jackson and Westbrook are on the field...

While the plays were successful in their own right, with Kolb making his first start wouldn't it have been more sensible to try and do all they could to let him settle in and get used to the game a bit more instead?

If Vick has similar or better success then I'm all for it. What I don't like is the beating D Jax got subjected to standing if for vick
