The San Francisco 49ers have announced that an MRI performed on running back Frank Gore reveals a "right ankle strain and a right hind foot sprain." The team says that he'll be out approximately three weeks. Gore suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's lost to the Vikings. Source: ProFootballTalk.com
I would rather Gore sit out now and come back after the bye then later in the year. If we can go 9-7 we may get a wildcard spot and need him later in the year.
the other advantage (although it's hard to call losing Gore an advantage) is that this could be another rallying cry for Singletary to use with the players. Everyone will need to step up their game to replace Gore's production and they may become even more cohesive as a team.
