$1M Of Cardinals LB Joey Porter's 2011 Salary Guaranteed Only By Injury

Discussion in 'Arizona Cardinals' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jun 14, 2011.

  1. Cardinals veteran outside linebacker Joey Porter, who is scheduled to earn $5.75 million in base salary for the 2011 season, could be on his way out once the new league year starts. While a million of the salary is guaranteed, a source told FOXSports.com that it’s guaranteed only for injury. Porter obviously isn't injured, so the Cardinals can take themselves off the hook for the entire $5.75 million salary by releasing him after the lockout. Arizona isn't exactly deep at outside linebacker, but Porter's scheduled pay is still unjustifiable considering his recent performance and age (34).

Too late now. Should've planned better. Gotta read the small print!
