Reached by phone today, 49ers franchise-tagged safety Dashon Goldson was tight-lipped about his training-camp plans. Will Goldson report with the other veterans Thursday? “I can’t talk about that,†he said. It’s possible, of course, that Goldson will skip part of training camp before signing his $6.212 million franchise tender. Last year, he missed the first two weeks of training camp before signing a one-year deal to return to San Francisco and embarked on the best season of his five-year career. Given Goldson’s conciliatory tone regarding his contract earlier this month – and the fact that he’d forfeit more than $350,000 for every regular-season game he missed – it’s unlikely he’ll remain unsigned into September. He just wants more them he's worth. Niners won't spend that kind of money at the safety posistion. He's a pretty good player buts he's not elite.
Honestly I wouldn't even call him pretty good dude, the beauty of the 9er's defense is that nasty front they have. You and I could be serviceable safeties with the sickness playing up front.
