Mike Singletary did not sugarcoat the 49ers' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. And he was completely honest about the play of quarterback Alex Smith. "I think tonight Alex played poorly," Singletary said. "He's capable of playing better than that." But, in an unexpected twist, Singletary came the closest he's come all season to giving Smith a vote of confidence as the 49ers' starting quarterback for 2010. "I don't have any questions about him. I don't have any questions going forward. Sometimes you try to make things happen, and if they're not happening and you force it. Maturity, patience, those kinds of things, trust in receivers' routes, all of those things, you try to make happen. As a quarterback, you have to learn you can't force it. He's shown me enough prior to tonight. He had a bad game. Great quarterbacks have bad games. So I don't have any questions about him." Source: The Press Democrat
Screw Alex Smith, he has bad mechanics, poor vision and can't get out of his own way...again Screw him.
How do you feel about Alex Smith Sweets? :icon_cheesygrin: The Niners are trying to play to Smith's strengths by going to the spread, only problem is they don't really have the personel to make it work. Bring in a guy like Pennington to run things and get help on the line.
No QB in this league could of beat the eagles playing behind that terrible o-line. The eagles had instant pressure on almost every play. you cant blame all of it on Alex. fix this o-line then we can judge.
And what about the games he plays well with poor play by those surrounding him in a loss? The dude is still young and growing, and gives us our best chance going forward. Give him a line, and some development with Crabs (and hopefully VD learns to hold onto balls), and then judge him.
That one pick he threw to quintin mikell wasent his fault. Mikell came from the other side of the field somehow and plus vernon davis dident even fight for the ball and got reamed by singletery. The others samuel just is a ball hawk and one to tracy white i think was just bad.
Very true, as with most of the pics in the Tenn game. However, he did play a bad game, and played a bad game last week although statistically it wasn't terrible. However, every qb has bad games, and right now he is playing on an acceptable NFL level, and is consistently improving; with a limited increase in supporting talent. Plus, MANY of his poor throws have been the result of him and his recievers (spec. Crabs) being on diff. pages. Give them all some time to mature and gel and I think the whole O would be alot better
