49ers LB Aldon Smith Fined $15K For Late Hit On Lions QB Matthew Stafford

49ers rookie OLB Aldon Smith was fined $15,000 for his hit on quarterback Matthew Stafford in last week's win over the Lions. Smith has 5.5 sacks over the his past three games rotating with OLB Parys Haralson in the 49ers base 3-4 defense. The fine draws from a below the knee tackle on Stafford that resulted in a 15-yard penalty for roughing the passer. The league has also fined Brandon Pettigrew $7,500 for a chop block in the same game.

Thank god he's got the right to appeal. $150,000 fine? For a second, I thought my eyes where playing tricks with me when I read that.

 

Another source said $15,000 which I think is right, $150,000 is a tad ridiculous...lol
