Embattled San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary will be the coach through the remainder of the season, according to owner John York. That is what he told Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee in London where the 49ers have traveled for Sunday's meeting with the Denver Broncos. "Yes, he's our coach," York said when he was asked if Singletary would remain through the duration of the season. The 49ers have the worst record in the NFC at 1-6 and the bold prediction a few weeks back from York's son Jed York, the team president, that the team would win the division looks a little silly right now, make that a lot silly. Even in the down-and-out NFC West, the 49ers are a lost cause following their defeat this past Sunday at Carolina. Singletary is a leading candidate to be fired, and has swiped the hot seat in the Bay Area from Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable, apparently, the 49ers will not begin the search for a new coach until after this season begins, though. All of the NFL coaches are, no matter their record, because the owners don't know how much of a season there will be in 2011.
Now is a good time for SingleT to break out the Mora Unplugged rant... "Playoffs, dont talk about, playoffs, you kidding me??, playoffs??, I JUST HOPE WE CAN WIN A GAME"
