On Thursday, after signing his franchise tender and reporting to training camp on time, safety Dashon Goldson replied “not really†when asked if the team had offered a multiyear deal during the offseason. Asked if the 49ers ever presented Goldson with a long-term contract offer, Baalke said he didn’t discuss contract negotiations in the media. Baalke was, however, happy to discuss Goldson’s decision to report to training camp with the rest of the veterans and not miss part of training camp in protest. “It’s a statement that a lot of times, for whatever reasons, players don’t make,†Baalke said. “But we’re glad he made the decision he made, but more importantly, his teammates are glad that he made the decision he made. There are no distractions; we’ll just go to work. And we’ll continue to visit with him and work on a long-term situation. But at this time, it is what it is and we’re certainly glad he’s here.â€

Well Goldson said "not really," they probably low balled him. Unfortunately for him his cover skills are lacking and he is not worth as much as he thinks. He is great in run support and a big hitter but those kinds of safetys don't cost 7-8 million per year.

Yea I agree! I think he had a great year last year but too often you see people have one good year and want big bucks!

He needs to prove he can do it 2yrs in a row. Great year last year, the year before that he had a below average year. In 09 he had a decent year.
