Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports 49ers quarterback Alex Smith suffered a concussion at some point during the game. According to the 49ers, Smith showed no signs of a concussion during the game and reported symptoms afterward. He was checked out and determined to have suffered a concussion. Under new league rules designed to protect concussed players, Smith had to pass a neurological examination and be cleared by both his team and an independent neurological consultant before returning to practice. He did so and practiced in full today. Source: The Red Zone
