After taking over for Shaun Hill in the second half on Sunday, Alex Smith will start at quarterback for the 49ers in Week 8, according to Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Despite throwing an interception, Smith was brilliant in his one half of play, completing 15-of-22 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns, bringing San Francisco back from a 21-0 halftime deficit (they still lost 24-21). He is rumored to have a strong rapport with rookie receiver Michael Crabtree, and barring a meltdown on Sunday, the former number one overall pick should keep the job for the foreseeable future. Now that the game is over, go niners. Beat the Colts, because we sure the hell aren't going too.:icon_frown:
That was a whole new offense with him in there, I think he may struggle a little but he is going to do well enough to keep the job.
it's a lot different coming in out of the bullpen versus teams game-planning for you and attacking your weaknesses ................ he may not be any worse than Hill but I'm not expecting much more.
I've never expecting miracles from him so I won't start now. But as long as the 49ers win, I don't care who's behind the C.
