For a running back, Frank Gore makes a pretty good wide receiver. When he caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from J.T. O'Sullivan in the first quarter against New England, Gore said it was the first time in his career he had been the No. 1 option on a pass play.

It was a very nice catch for a RB! I'd like to see some more screens and Bronco style pitches for him. The guy is a weapon and we need to use him in every way we can.

It's no surprise since Marzt is running the offense.

Everyone was scared to death that Martz would ignore Gore and throw the ball deep every play. Looks like Martz might actually know what he has in Gore. He now leads the league in yards from scrimmage. Too bad the D can't step up and stop some of these third and long plays. Imagine what Gore would do if the offense had two or three more possessions per game??

Gore is a solid RB, but he also possesses Bush-like skills in the open-field. Just getting him the ball should be the main point. Once the defense adjusts to cover him on the flat, the second and third WRs (Bryant, Davis, Morgan etc) should be able to come open. I really think that as the year goes along and JTO gets better and quicker with his reads, that the passing game will open up more and more. For now, however, if we have to ride on someone's back, I'm glad it's Gore in the backfield.
