The New Orleans Saints confirmed that offensive line coach/running game coach Aaron Kromer will take over head coaching duties during Joe Vitt's six-game suspension to start the regular season. Kromer will serve in the role during the Saints' final two preseason games. Kromer has long been considered the front-runner for the interim-interim job, since the Saints would prefer to have coordinators Pete Carmichael Jr. and Steve Spagnuolo focus on their primary duties. Kromer is a veteran NFL assistant who was considered for the St. Louis Rams head coaching job earlier this year. And more importantly, Kromer will continue the orginization's approach of keeping the program running in the same fashion as it's been run since 2006 under Sean Payton, who is suspended for the full season.

No surprise here....if he does a good job he'll probably be one of the hot prospects for a HC gig next year

I guess Pete Carmichael's stock just took a bit of a hit.
