Joe Flacco's agent still has a few days before he'll meet with Ravens officials at the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine to discuss a new deal for his client, but that didn't prevent him from revealing one of his main negotiating chips in a Wednesday interview with The Baltimore Sun. "If the game is about wins and losses, he has to be in the top five (quarterbacks)," Joe Linta said of Flacco, who has gone 44-20 in four seasons and led the Ravens to two AFC Championship Game appearances. "He is a player who has been extremely durable, never missed a game. And he's done something that no one has ever done. In his four years in the league, he has never missed a game and has more wins than any other quarterback." Before Linta's interview with The Sun, a league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that the agent and the Ravens will begin negotiating Flacco's contract extension next week while in Indianapolis. The source said the Ravens are committed to keeping Flacco, and the quarterback hopes to sign a long-term deal this offseason. Source: NFL.com
Funny how all his points are team achievements lol, he'll get a fair amount for a QB his caliber but if he thinks he's getting anywhere near top 5 money he's a damn fool. Throw some incentives in the contract and move on
@Ward I personally would have made him play out his rookie deal under a new OC. He has the tools, he flashes brilliance but also flashes inept play and too often misses throws a QB with his experience shouldnt miss. I give him a bit of a pass because Cam's system is like a progression system that makes him almost like a robot where Cam dictates where the ball goes not Joe, couple that with pre-historic routes and its a recipe for disaster at times. I also felt like long before now Joe should have been given the keys to the offense and allow to have a season or 2 where he throws a bunch a picks but more TD's and learn from those experiences. Cam is such a control freak unfortunately so it hants happened to this point. I think as long as Cam comes out of his shell more often and puts more on Joe's plate(See AFCC game this year) and we cotinue to build in the receiving core he can be a championship level QB. Im cautiously optimistic.
obviously Flacco is one of those middle-of-the-road QB's who can do some good things for you but isn't going to throw a team on his back and carry them to victory by himself. I would put him in the category of Kyle Orton, Jason Campbell, Matt Moore, Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton.............. guys like that. You could pretty much plug any of those QB's into the Ravens QB position and get the same results.
I think Andy Dalton (from what we've seen so far...juries still out imo) and Flacco are better than that group you listed. Much better? No. But I'd take him over that group. Easily. Orton would be the closest to not taking Dalton or Flacco in that group...
