The protective boot on Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones’ foot will come off Saturday, allowing the first-round prospect to ramp up his workout schedule before the NFL draft on April 28. Jones had surgery March 5 to repair a fracture in his foot but competed with the injury at the NFL Scouting Combine a week prior and wowed NFL personnel men, coaches and scouts. “It hurt a little bit, but I didn’t want to wait on pro day (to workout),†he said. “I just wanted to go out there when everybody was there, all the lights were on, all the coaches and everybody were there, go out and perform.†One of the subplots of the draft concerns which wide receiver will be selected first — Jones or Georgia's A.J. Green. Teams that could target a receiver in the first round include the Bengals (No. 4 pick), Browns (No. 6), Redskins (No. 10) and Rams (No. 14). Green is considered the top prospect by many scouts, but Jones gained momentum with a superb Combine performance, including a 4.39-second 40-yard dash despite the stress fracture.
