With Michael Vick out with a concussion, rookie Nick Foles saw his first regular-season action in the Eagles' season-crushing, 38-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. At 3-6, it seems like its time for Foles to get an extended look but that's not part of coach Andy Reid's plan. Reid said after Sunday's game that Vick remains his starting quarterback, if healthy. Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Vick still looked "woozy" in the locker room after the game. He was quickly diagnosed with having a concussion. Source: NFL.com
Conveniently for Reid, Vick won't be "healthy" and he'll be able to go Foles with out really making a tough decision and then later say, we'll go with the "hot hand" after Foles puts up back-to-back wins against the Redskins and Panthers.
If I'm the GM of this franchise, and I've already made the decision that both Reid and Vick are gone, forcing the play of Foles is a no-brainer. The Eagles need to know what this kid can do, if he's got potential or a deeper cleaning is in order.
That's crazy talk. With the season being essentially over, Foles should start for the rest of the year. There's nothing to gain by putting Vick back out there.
fftoolbox.com and Yahoo are saying that Reid will stay as HC until the Eagles are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
