After the Panthers dumped the Eagles on Monday night to drop Philadelphia's record to 3-8, coach Andy Reid's fate most likely was sealed. Before the season, owner Jeffrey Lurie made it clear that an 8-8 record was unacceptable, so even if the Eagles win the next five games, it seems clear that Reid will have to go. Although the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane wrote a column after the game saying now might be the time to release Reid -- not necessarily a bad thought, I might add -- Lurie and Reid did not talk immediately after the game. “We haven't talked about that," Reid said in his postgame press conference, via CSN Philly. “He's been supportive. Obviously, he's as competitive as anybody. He wants to win games. That's why he's in this business. But we really haven't gone there.†Although the best stat of the week informs us that the Phillies have won more recently than the Eagles (a 2-0 Phils victory against the Nationals on Oct. 1 compared to the Eagles' 19-17 win over the Giants on Sept. 30), Reid doesn't seem concerned with his own future. “We're going to keep battling,†Reid said. “I have to do a better job with that, obviously, by how we played here. I'm not worried about all of the other things.†His players, meanwhile, are concerned for him. “I feel bad for Andy,†tight end Brent Celek said. “He's in a horrible situation, in a town that's critical -- and rightly so. If I was the fans I'd be mad, too. I don't see Andy as the problem here. I see it as us. We're in positions to make plays and do things right, and we're just not doing them.†Source: CBS Sports
i think the fact that Lurie is firing his money men, janitors, and anyone else he can get his hands on right now, we're heading towards a complete house cleaning after the season. i wonder if roseman will keep his job though since he just got an extension.

Reid sounds like he's already accepted the fact it's over and that he's already checked out. So it hasn't gone well in Philly, esp with the free agency/trades debacle a couple of years ago....crap happens. Lurie is just as culpable a Reid. He signs the checks and had to give the OK to the attempt to purchase a Super Bowl.
He is not AS culpable as Reid. Sure, he signs the checks, but he has not been a controlling owner who tries to make the football decisions like some others. He's a Hollywood guy, not a football guy. He put his money behind a guy who had a track record of pretty good success. Lurie didn't act like he knew these moves were great. Did Lurie make mistakes? Yes. But the downfall of this team is based on the moves that Andy made.
i was under the impression that roseman and andy were making decisions together so is roseman culpable also?
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Roseman's job is to bring players in, not coach them. Roseman brought players in. Players that every coach and fan thought were great moves. Roseman is not a position coach responsible for technique. He's not a coordinator in charge of schemes or playcalling. I don't have any particular reason to like the guy, per se... but he did his job.
Of course he hasnt discussed it. How do you tell someone whose been your coach for so long and who you know is well aware of whats going to happen that they are fired once the season is over? Thats something you wait until the Monday after the end of the regular season to do.
