Associated Press advisor Dave Goldberg reports via Twitter that the AP may hold a re-vote for the 2009 Defensive Rookie of the Year award. A decision isn't expected for a few days but Texans linebacker Brian Cushing is in danger of being stripped of his award after testing positive for a banned substance last September. Cushing wouldn't just lose the trophy, he'd also lose incentives based on rookie-year accomplishments.

Because this is bullcrap. If they are going to do this they need to redo the vote on Merriman's as well.

heres the deal, ive heard he tested positive as early as september but it just has been in the appeal proccess this long. he did have a great season but should have missed 4 games then instead of now... so take away that title. and heres the obvious homer choice... vote claymathews... looking at byrds stats he didnt really pick off an elite qb... jake delhome twice, VY, whoever was qb in cleveland and rookie mark sanchezzz... just sayin

To be honest it always seems like an empty gesture to revoke and re-hand out awards. The best thing is just to put an asterisk next to his name and be done with it.

They are going to have a revote, but cushing will still be eligible to win. Matthews killed it at the end of the year and is who will win the DROY this time around.
