ST. LOUIS – Arthur Rhodes shakes his head and allows a wry smile. Nearly 20 years of deprivation and all of a sudden he’s showered in blessings. Less than a week shy of his 42nd birthday, the left-handed relief pitcher is in his first World Series, and he is guaranteed of getting a championship ring because he’s played for both teams this season, becoming the eighth player in baseball history to do so. that could be the dumbest freaking rule ever. only the players on the playoff roster should get rings
Something like 900 innings pitched in 20 years and I believe this is his first shot at this. Not really a super rare feat(Bengie Molina played for the Rangers and Giants just last season as did Chris Ray) but if any player deserves a ring, it's Rhodes and he'll get one NO MATTER WHAT!!
not saying hes not deserving but would you really want a texas rangers ring when the team your suiting up for lost? seems kinda shallow.
Honestly, no. But he did have a great run with the Rangers. Either way, it's a ring! You can always sell that crap to the Pawn Stars guys!
thats exactly what i was gona say. first i thought hell dont even give me one if i wasnt on the field or in the dugout to win it but then i figured quick cash for soemthing you didnt really earn cause you lost? hell yeah.
And honestly as long as he's played, a World Series ring is a World Series ring. If he hadn't played most of the season with Texas it might mean less but it's still a fun story.
its a fun story for sure i just dont see any value in a ring when you werent on the team when they won. IF the eagles win a super bowl this year and they mail donovan a ring would it mean anything?
Donovan didn't contribute anything to the Eagles this season. Rhodes at least contributed to the Rangers. It's like in 04 when Nomar got a ring and his pay share when the Red Sox won the World Series and he wasn't on the team.
yeah. freaking stupid rule. if you want you can keep bring up more examples but it just proves my point. stupid rule
Happened with Chris Ray as well. I'm pretty sure he started the season with Texas and ended up with the Giants.
