Barring any unforeseen setback, it appears Louis Delmas will be back at his starting safety spot Sunday in Philadelphia and there is a chance he could be as healthy as he's been at any point since maybe early last season.

"He hasn't had any setbacks," coach Jim Schwartz said Thursday. "He looked good. But we still have some ground to cover between now and Sunday. We are still treating him and keeping an eye on things, but we've been very encouraged by first getting him on the field last week and then getting him back on the field this week.

"He's on a good track. Whether or not he gets it to Sunday, we'll see."

There potentially could be a bigger issue: Delmas is only 25, but he's now had surgery on both knees. His strength, besides his unbridled energy and enthusiasm on the field, always has been his speed and range of coverage.

Will Delmas be the same player he was before the two surgeries? Schwartz certainly thinks so.

"I think when he gets those things behind him, then that's where they will be," Schwartz said. "That was the whole plan with this — to try and get it behind him to where it wasn't a nagging thing. After one week, it's looking like we accomplished that."
