Pete Rose and Tucupita Marcano and so many others didn't have a fall guy and didn't have a $700 million guaranteed contract. A fall guy with access to their bank account, or a bank account with millions of dollars with it. I was unable to take the equivalent 100 bucks off my mom's account while she was unconscious having surgery. I had the password and the token but there was a biometric authentication I had to pass and on the phone it was also impossible. Also, I live in a third world country, in case you forgot. Ohtani's interpreter had access to millions of dollars like it was nothing. And then he didn't fire his finance people, his attorneys, his other assistants. Yes, it smells fishy. We all knew this was going to happen as soon as gambling became legal and pro sports leagues got in bed with casinos and gambling apps. I wonder what might happen if say, Patrick Mahomes gets caught gambling. So far in the NFL only low profile players get caught and punished. No big star so far. I think it's a matter of time.
