According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Brian Urlacher will play against New Orleans on Sunday. Urlacher's mother, Lavoyda passed away of natural causes at the age of 51. Urlacher issued a statement Wednesday on his mother's passing, "My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make the arrangements to lay her to rest. This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you." If Urlacher wouldn't have been able to go against the Saints, it was expected that rookie Dom DeCicco or veteran Nick Roach would have shifted over to the middle linebacker spot. On Wednesday, Urlacher was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Falcons. Urlacher recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. He also tied for the team lead with 10 tackles and made a diving interception off Atlanta quarterback, Matt Ryan. Source: Comcast Sports
Not surprised. I give him props. Probably no way I could do it. I'm just not looking forward to all the times we're gonna have to hear "4he would have wanted him to play." I hate when people say that crap.
this is a great way to honor his mother. im sure his mother would of wanted him to play..... brett favre did it after his dad died. so its not like something new
Urlacher playing on sunday is far from the minds of Bears fans, atleast the ones that realize there is life besides football. It would be awesome though IF Urlacher topped his performance he had against the Falcons by having the game of his life against the Saints. My thoughts and prayers are with the Urlacher family.
May peach be with the Urlacher family. It is sad to hear about his mother. RIP Takes some stones to play this soon after a parent has passed. This week I will be rooting for the Bears.
