The Chicago Bears made final cuts Saturday to reach the 53-man roster limit with linebacker J.T. Thomas, an improving player on special teams, among those placed on waivers. The departure of Thomas means only two players remain from former general manager Jerry Angelo’s final draft class in 2011 – defensive tackle Stephen Paea and safety Chris Conte. First-round pick Gabe Carimi was traded in the spring and running back Harvey Unga, a supplemental pick in 2010 that cost the Bears their seventh-round pick in 2011, was released on Friday. Wide receiver Terrence Toliver, a candidate to return to the practice squad, was placed on waivers. The Bears reached injury settlements with defensive tackle Corvey Irvin (left ankle) and offensive tackle Cory Brandon (ankle/leg) and waived/injured safety Brandon Hardin, the third-round pick from last year.
