One could say Lance Briggs officially signed off on his new role as defensive co-captain Thursday before practice. The Bears linebacker sought out injured teammate Brian Urlacher at Halas Hall to scribble his signature across Urlacher's wrist cast. "I don't know how many people signed it," Briggs said, "but I know I was the first." In the minds of his teammates, Briggs was the first in line to help fill Urlacher's shoes, which is why they voted him as the replacement captain alongside defensive end Adewale Ogunleye.
