Bears middle linebacker D.J. Williams practiced with the first-team defense Wednesday, but coach Marc Trestman said he hasn't finalized the extent of Williams' role in Sunday's opener against the Bengals. Trestman added Williams, who suffered a right calf injury in late July, and rookie Jon Bostic might both play middle linebacker Week 1.

"I don’t know that he’s in game condition to play 60 or 70 plays, or 50 or 60 plays, but we’re just going to let the week kind of take its course," Trestman said, per The Chicago Tribune. "Both him and Jonathan are getting plenty of work. We’re excited to have him back, certainly. If we have to make a decision, it’s a good one. There’s no reason why they can’t both be up."

While I believe Bostic should be the starter, learning for a year wouldn't be a bad thing I guess.

Personally think Bostic needs a bit more seasoning. Hate to gamble on his youth & athleticism when we have a more solid player in Williams.
