Since I live in Los Angeles Cal. I was unable to see this game live on Sat and had to wait for the NFL network reply to see them game. Granted I did see the score & saw some of the highlights from the game on the NFL network, and I also read on or to articles on the game but I wanted to wait until after I watched the game to pen my post about the game & how the Bears did. After last weeks game I had some issues with the Bears performance on the Offensive & Defensive side of the ball. (Posted under the: Preseason Game 1: Bears @ Bills, topic) I wanna first start off by saying that in my opinion the Bears looked almost like a totally different team. Now I know that seems like a dumb thing to say but based on the stats from last weeks game compared with the stats from this game you will see what I mean. Offensive Play calling was closer to 50/50 Rushing plays to passing plays. Pass plays: 31 Rushing plays: 29 (not counting QB or TE rushes) Plus we had more total Passing yards, Rushing yards, & time of position. But we also had 2 Forced fumbles, so we need to protect the ball and keep those errors to a minimum. O-line of passing plays: did a much better job of given Cutler and Hanie time. Still need to watch out for the Blitz. Plus both QBs showed good field presence on broken plays by rushing for positive yards. WR, TE & RB: All where used as targets for passing plays with the ball being spread out among them a lot more than it was last week. Also Big props to Hester for making some great blocks, it was nice to see him in on plays where he was not the main target is showing some real growth as an all around player. Unfortunately we had a few pass that where over thrown but not as many dropped pass plus no INTs which is a big plus. RB: The rushing plays looked a lot better. (ypc - Yards per carry) Forte: @ 6.4 ypc with a TD Jones: @ 3.125 ypc (would prefer to see a 4-4.5 ypc, but still a good showing for a back up RB) Peterson: @ 3.11 ypc (Will he be cut or not, is still a question mark) Wolf: @ 8.3 ypc (with 2nd & 3rd or lower string players in the) Defensive: Had better pressure coming up the middle. Pass defensive looked better. Still need to work on tackling. Over all I saw a lot of improvement in the game play of the Bears from Preseason Game 1 to game 2. I hope this will continue thru out the year.
