Devin Hester complained this week that he wanted a larger role in the offense. What a difference one play can make. The Chicago Bears' receiver/return man extraordinaire had three receptions for 38 yards Monday Night, but it was the 34-yard touchdown that satiated Hester. "I guess (offensive coordinator Mike Tice's) daughter told him that I tweeted about it," Hester told the Chicago Tribune following the Bears' 34-18 win over the Dallas Cowboys. "But I didn't tweet it. He kind of joked about it to me and said, 'My daughter said you want to be more involved in the offense, I hear.' He knew what I meant. "He actually told me, 'You're going to one of the star players tonight.' He told me that right before the game." Source: NFL.com
I have never bought into Devin Hester as a WR since day 1 when he was turned into a WR. Maybe, just maybe if he would catch a lot of the passes that are on target to him, then this wouldn't be a problem for him. Yeah, Hester will make a great catch every now and then but he drops more passes then he catches it seems. Yes Cutler does over throw him from time to time too.
Yea... Most of us were against that Frankenstein project. He came out of college as a great return man for a reason. Never had the skillz as a WR or a CB. Round peg/square hole. Just a shame we lost a lot of his 'return' opportunities due to the stubbornness off Bear Brass to maximize $$$ by going cheap for so long at WR.
