According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports there were some discussions earlier in the week with Atlanta in which the Falcons offered their first-, second- and fourth-round picks this year and a first and fourth next year to trade up to the Bengals first round pick. The Falcons also wanted Green but wound up making the same trade with the Cleveland Browns, which had the sixth overall selection. Atlanta then chose Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones. Said coach Marvin Lewis: "We spoke with Atlanta numerous times over the last week but just felt good at not moving back to 27. It's more than what we were willing to do and felt good about the player we were going to stay at four and that's where they wanted to go and pick that player. Cleveland made the trade. Atlanta got a guy it wanted and everyone feels good. A.J., Julio they're both good football players." Source: The Redzone
Was probably tempting... but AJ is a damn stud. I'm glad he didn't go to the Falcons. Much rather have Ryan throwing to Julio than AJ.
