New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has agreed to become the coach at Penn State, according to sources. The Nittany Lions plan to make the move official with an announcement Saturday, the sources said. Terms of the deal are unknown. O'Brien interviewed with Penn State on Thursday, his agent, Joe Linta, told The Associated Press. In his first year coordinating the Patriots' high-scoring offense, O'Brien has also coached star quarterback Tom Brady since 2009. Source: ESPN.com
I do not understand this hiring. I am not a Penn State fan, but a lot of people are pissed at this decision.
Its probobly gonna be a similar system Weis ran at ND. That Pro Spread has gone from him to McDaniels to Obrien. Truth is the system itself worked on the college level. Extremely well at times. With decent talent on the offensive side of the ball ND was often able to march up and down the field at will. That was never Weis problem. His problem was the defense, game and team management, mainly his ego
i don't really give a crap at this point. i'm just sick of hearing about penn state football, which has been irrelevant for years but now is the most talked about program in the country. And i can't get away from it. I listen, look, or watch sports quite a bit each day and it's just too much penn state. penn state is my tebow .............. :ranting:
Not a good hire. However, my feeling is obviously they couldn't have done better. They couldn't even get Rutgers Coach Greg Schiano.
