Free agent offensive tackle Demetrius Bell left his visit with the Philadelphia Eagles without a signed contract, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Bell visited the Eagles on Saturday and Sunday after meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday. The Eagles are looking for a left tackle after losing Pro Bowler Jason Peters to a ruptured Achilles tendon last week. "I'm real excited. Hopefully, we can get something worked out. I'm eager to meet the coaching staff and GM," Bell told cameras from 6ABC upon his arrival in Philadelphia. In the first week of free agency, Bell visited both the Arizona Cardinals (3/14) and Washington Redskins (3/16). Source: Mac's Football Blog
he may be asking for too much. he's an 'ok' left tackle, which at 27 years old in the prime of his career, would typically command a decent-sized contract but i think everyone has some injury concerns about Bell.......... he's had trouble staying on the field.
Whoever we get likely knows that they are just a fill-in for one to two years so could make it more difficult, however... if the market isn't there for them this year, might be a good idea to sign for a fat one or two year deal and try and cash in down the road.
well, yes, bell and mcneil should be perfect fits for a 1-year stint in philly .............. both are trying to reestablish themselves and prove that they can stay healthy for an entire season so this would be the perfect situation ............. maybe they don't agree with that assessment though and are looking for a big, long-term deal.
